Vietnam presents an appealing option for Belgian travelers, featuring rich landscapes and a vibrant culture. Although foreign tourist numbers are currently low as the country recovers from global disruptions, its tourism infrastructure is well-prepared for visitors. With 8.6 million Belgians traveling abroad annually, a segment of this population may find Vietnam an attractive destination.
Vietnam is generally considered a safe destination for tourists, including those from Belgium. According to the Global Peace Index, Vietnam ranks 41st out of 160 countries, indicating a relatively peaceful environment, although it is not as safe as Belgium, which ranks 16th. In terms of crime statistics, Belgium has a lower murder rate (1.1 per 100,000 people) compared to Vietnam (1.5 per 100,000 people). Additionally, Belgium tends to score better on organized crime indices, with lower scores indicating less crime activity compared to Vietnam. While there are some concerns regarding organized crime and safety, many tourists visit Vietnam without incident. It's advisable for travelers to remain vigilant and take standard safety precautions while exploring the country.
