Uzbekistan offers a unique appeal for Egyptian visitors, showcasing rich heritage and a growing tourism infrastructure. While it has experienced fluctuating tourist numbers, it remains an intriguing option for a segment of Egypt's 111 million population.
Uzbekistan is generally considered a relatively safe destination for tourists, including those from Egypt. According to the Global Peace Index, Uzbekistan ranks 58th out of 160 countries, which is significantly better than Egypt's ranking of 103rd. In terms of crime statistics, Uzbekistan has a lower murder rate of 1.4 per 100,000 people compared to Egypt's 2.6. Additionally, while the female murder rate is slightly higher in Uzbekistan (1.1) than in Egypt (0.5), the overall crime environment appears to be more favorable in Uzbekistan. The Global Organized Crime Index also reflects this, with Uzbekistan scoring better in several categories, particularly in arms trafficking (3.0 for Uzbekistan vs. 7.0 for Egypt) and drug-related crimes.
