The United States is a prominent tourist destination, appealing to millions globally due to its rich cultural landmarks, natural attractions, and iconic cities. Its high international tourist receipts underscore its importance in the tourism sector. A portion of the 11 million Ukrainians who travel abroad annually may find the U.S. an appealing destination.
The safety of the United States for tourists from Ukraine can be assessed through various indices and crime statistics. According to the Global Peace Index, the U.S. ranks 130th out of 160 countries, while Ukraine is ranked lower at 156th, indicating that the U.S. is relatively safer. In terms of murder rates, Ukraine has a rate of 3.8 per 100,000 people, whereas the U.S. has a higher rate of 6.8. However, when looking at specific crime indices from the Global Organized Crime Index, the U.S. generally scores better than Ukraine in several categories, including state crime and human smuggling. Overall, while the U.S. has higher murder rates, it is considered safer than Ukraine based on the Global Peace Index and other crime statistics. Tourists should remain aware of their surroundings and take standard safety precautions while traveling.
