Uganda, known as the "Pearl of Africa," boasts breathtaking landscapes and rich biodiversity, making it an appealing yet underexplored destination for global tourism. With its vast savannahs, stunning waterfalls, and dense rainforests that host diverse wildlife, including mountain gorillas, it offers unique experiences. Given that 11 million Ukrainians travel abroad annually, a segment of them may find Uganda an attractive option for their travels.
Uganda is relatively safer for tourists compared to Ukraine, based on various safety indices. According to the Global Peace Index, Uganda ranks 124th out of 160 countries, while Ukraine is ranked 156th. In terms of murder rates, Uganda has a rate of 8.5 per 100,000 people, compared to Ukraine's 3.8. However, the rates for female murders are higher in Uganda (4.0) than in Ukraine (1.9). The Global Organized Crime Index shows that Uganda generally has lower scores in organized crime compared to Ukraine, with Uganda scoring 5.0 for mafia groups and 7.5 for state crime, while Ukraine scores 6.0 and 8.0 respectively. Overall, while Uganda has some crime concerns, it may be considered safer for tourists from Ukraine when looking at these statistics. Nonetheless, travelers should remain vigilant and informed about local conditions.
