Ukraine is currently considered less safe for tourists compared to Uzbekistan. According to the Global Peace Index, Ukraine ranks 156th out of 160 countries, while Uzbekistan is ranked 58th. In terms of murder rates, Ukraine has a rate of 3.8 per 100,000 people, compared to Uzbekistan's 1.4. Crime statistics further indicate that organized crime and state crime are more prevalent in Ukraine, with higher indices on the Global Organized Crime Index. For example, mafia groups in Ukraine are rated 6.0 compared to Uzbekistan's 5.0, and state crime is rated 8.0 in Ukraine versus 7.0 in Uzbekistan.
