Ukraine offers a rich cultural and historical experience, making it an appealing destination for some Rwandan travelers. The country has seen a growing number of international visitors, positioning itself as an important player in global tourism. As a result, a segment of Rwanda's 14 million population may find Ukraine to be an interesting travel option.
Ukraine is currently considered less safe for tourists compared to Rwanda. According to the Global Peace Index, Ukraine ranks 156th out of 160 countries, while Rwanda is ranked 90th. The murder rates are similar, with Rwanda at 3.6 per 100,000 people and Ukraine at 3.8. However, crime indices reveal significant differences: Rwanda scores better across various categories in the Global Organized Crime Index, with lower scores indicating safer conditions. For instance, Ukraine has higher indices for mafia groups (6.0 vs. 1.0), crime networks (7.0 vs. 3.0), and state crime (8.0 vs. 5.0). Overall, while both countries have their challenges, Ukraine presents a higher risk for tourists compared to Rwanda.
