Ukraine offers a rich cultural and historical experience that can appeal to Lithuanian visitors. With around 700,000 Lithuanians traveling abroad annually, a portion may find Ukraine an attractive destination worth exploring.
Ukraine's safety for tourists, including those from Lithuania, is a concern. While Lithuania is ranked 31st in the Global Peace Index and has a low murder rate of 2.6 per 100,000 people, Ukraine is ranked 156th out of 160 countries, with a higher murder rate of 3.8. Crime statistics indicate that organized crime is more prevalent in Ukraine, with higher indices in areas such as mafia groups (6.0) and state crime (8.0) compared to Lithuania (3.5 and 4.0, respectively). Additionally, Ukraine faces challenges with human trafficking and arms trafficking, scoring 7.0 and 8.0, while Lithuania scores significantly lower. Overall, while travel to Ukraine is possible, tourists should exercise caution and stay informed about the current situation.
