Ukraine offers a rich cultural and historical experience, making it an appealing destination for international tourists. With around 500,000 Japanese travelers venturing abroad annually, a portion may find Ukraine to be an intriguing option for their travels.
Ukraine is currently considered less safe for tourists compared to Japan. According to the Global Peace Index, Ukraine ranks 156th out of 160 countries, while Japan ranks 17th. The murder rate in Ukraine is significantly higher, at 3.8 per 100,000 people, compared to Japan's 0.2. Additionally, the Global Organized Crime Index indicates that Ukraine faces challenges with organized crime, scoring higher in various categories such as state crime (8.0) and arms trafficking (8.0), while Japan scores much lower (3.0 for state crime). Overall, while travel is possible, tourists from Japan should exercise caution and stay informed about the current situation in Ukraine.
