Ukraine offers a rich cultural and historical experience, making it an appealing destination for some Croatian travelers. With around 600,000 Croats traveling abroad annually, a portion may find Ukraine an interesting choice for their travels.
Ukraine is currently considered less safe for tourists compared to Croatia. According to the Global Peace Index, Ukraine ranks 156th out of 160 countries, while Croatia is much safer at 15th place. The murder rate in Ukraine is significantly higher at 3.8 per 100,000 people, compared to Croatia's 0.8. Additionally, various crime indices indicate that Ukraine faces more challenges with organized crime and safety issues. For example, Ukraine scores higher in categories such as state crime (8.0) and arms trafficking (8.0) compared to Croatia (6.5 and 3.5, respectively). Overall, tourists from Croatia should exercise caution when considering travel to Ukraine due to these safety concerns.
