Ukraine boasts a rich cultural heritage and historical significance, making it an appealing destination for international tourists. With 3.8 million Georgians traveling abroad annually, a portion of them may find Ukraine an attractive option for their travels.
Ukraine currently faces significant safety challenges for tourists, particularly when compared to Georgia. According to the Global Peace Index, Ukraine is ranked 156th out of 160 countries, while Georgia is ranked 98th. In terms of crime statistics, the murder rate in Ukraine is 3.8 per 100,000 people, compared to Georgia's much lower rate of 1.9. Female murder rates also reflect this trend, with Ukraine at 1.9 and Georgia at 1.2. The Global Organized Crime Index further highlights the disparity, with Ukraine scoring worse across various categories, such as mafia groups (Ukraine: 6.0, Georgia: 2.5) and state crime (Ukraine: 8.0, Georgia: 3.0). Overall, while some areas in Ukraine may be safe for tourists, the overall safety situation is less favorable compared to Georgia. Travelers should exercise caution and stay informed about the current situation before visiting Ukraine.
