Ukraine offers a rich cultural and historical experience, making it an appealing destination for some Swiss travelers. With 6.1 million Swiss citizens traveling abroad annually, a portion may find Ukraine an intriguing option for their travels.
Ukraine's safety for tourists, particularly those coming from Switzerland, is a concern. While Switzerland ranks 6th in safety according to the Global Peace Index, Ukraine is significantly lower at 156th out of 160 countries. The murder rate in Ukraine is 3.8 per 100,000 people, compared to Switzerland's low rate of 0.5. Additionally, various crime indices indicate that organized crime and state crime are more prevalent in Ukraine, with scores indicating a higher risk compared to Switzerland. In summary, tourists from Switzerland should exercise caution when considering travel to Ukraine due to the higher crime rates and lower safety rankings.
