Ukraine is an appealing destination for some Belarusian travelers, given its rich culture and history. With around 500,000 Belarusians traveling abroad annually, a portion may find Ukraine an attractive option for their travels.
Ukraine's safety for tourists coming from Belarus can be assessed through various crime statistics. While Belarus is ranked 110th in the Global Peace Index, Ukraine is significantly lower at 156th out of 160 countries. The murder rates indicate that Belarus has a rate of 2.4 per 100,000 people, compared to Ukraine's 3.8. Additionally, Belarus generally has lower indices in organized crime categories, such as mafia presence (4.0 for Belarus vs. 6.0 for Ukraine) and crime networks (5.0 for Belarus vs. 7.0 for Ukraine). In summary, while both countries face safety challenges, Belarus is statistically safer than Ukraine based on various crime metrics. Tourists should exercise caution and stay informed about the current situation when considering travel to Ukraine.
