Ukraine offers a rich cultural and historical experience, making it an appealing destination for international tourists. With around 300,000 Australians traveling abroad annually, a portion of these travelers may find Ukraine to be an intriguing option for their journeys.
Ukraine is currently considered less safe for tourists compared to Australia. According to the Global Peace Index, Ukraine ranks 156th out of 160 countries, while Australia ranks 19th. The murder rate in Ukraine is significantly higher, at 3.8 per 100,000 people, compared to Australia’s 0.7. Additionally, crime statistics indicate higher levels of organized crime in Ukraine, with various indices reflecting a greater prevalence of mafia groups, crime networks, and state crime. Tourists from Australia should exercise caution and stay informed about the current situation in Ukraine before traveling.
