Türkiye is an appealing destination for Romanian travelers, offering a rich blend of culture and history at the crossroads of East and West. As a significant player in global tourism, it attracts millions of visitors annually with its diverse landscapes and cultural heritage. With 11.6 million Romanians traveling abroad each year, a notable portion may find Türkiye an attractive option for their travels.
Türkiye's safety for tourists from Romania presents some concerns. In terms of walking alone at night, Türkiye ranks 31st out of 40 countries, significantly lower than Romania, which ranks 19th. The Global Peace Index also reflects this disparity, with Türkiye at 137th out of 160 countries compared to Romania's 36th position. Crime statistics indicate a higher murder rate in Türkiye, with 2.5 per 100,000 people, compared to Romania's 1.3. Additionally, the rates of female murders are also higher in Türkiye (1.0) than in Romania (0.8). The Global Organized Crime Index shows that Türkiye faces more challenges with organized crime, scoring worse than Romania in several categories, including mafia groups, state crime, and human smuggling. Overall, while many tourists visit Türkiye safely, it is advisable for Romanian travelers to remain vigilant and informed about their surroundings.
