Türkiye offers a unique blend of culture and history, making it an appealing destination for some Norwegian travelers. With 1.7 million Norwegians traveling abroad each year, a portion may find Türkiye's rich heritage and diverse landscapes attractive for their travels.
Türkiye is generally considered less safe for tourists compared to Norway. It ranks 31st out of 40 countries for safety while walking alone at night, whereas Norway ranks 18th. According to the Global Peace Index, Türkiye is ranked 137th out of 160 countries, in contrast to Norway's 28th position. In terms of crime statistics, Türkiye has a higher murder rate at 2.5 per 100,000 people, compared to Norway's 0.5. Additionally, various organized crime indices indicate that Türkiye faces more significant challenges, with higher scores in areas such as mafia presence and state crime. While many tourists visit Türkiye without issues, it is advisable for visitors from Norway to remain vigilant and informed about their surroundings.
