Türkiye offers a rich blend of culture and history, making it an appealing destination for many Montenegrins. With its unique East-West fusion, diverse natural landscapes, and vibrant cultural heritage, it attracts millions of international tourists each year. A segment of Montenegro's population, which totals around one million, may find Türkiye particularly interesting for travel.
Türkiye presents a mixed safety profile for tourists coming from Montenegro. In terms of personal safety while walking alone at night, Türkiye ranks 31st out of 40 countries, significantly lower than Montenegro, which ranks 10th. The Global Peace Index also reflects this disparity, with Türkiye at 137th out of 160 countries compared to Montenegro's 35th position. Regarding crime statistics, the murder rates are relatively close, with Montenegro at 2.4 per 100,000 people and Türkiye at 2.5. However, the rates of female murders are higher in Türkiye (1.0) than in Montenegro (0.6). When examining organized crime, Türkiye has higher indices in several categories compared to Montenegro, indicating a greater prevalence of issues such as state crime (Türkiye 9.0 vs. Montenegro 7.5) and human trafficking (Türkiye 7.0 vs. Montenegro 4.5). Overall, while Türkiye has areas of concern regarding safety, many tourists visit the country without incident. It is advisable for travelers to stay informed and exercise caution, particularly in urban areas.
