Türkiye is an appealing destination for some of the 33 million Ghanaians, thanks to its rich cultural heritage and diverse natural landscapes. The country's unique blend of Eastern and Western influences makes it a significant player in global tourism, attracting millions of international visitors each year.
Türkiye presents some safety concerns for tourists, including those from Ghana. While Türkiye ranks 31st out of 40 European countries for safety while walking alone at night, it is less safe compared to Ghana, which ranks 54th globally in the Global Peace Index, where Türkiye is ranked 137th out of 160 countries. In terms of homicide rates, Türkiye has a murder rate of 2.5 per 100,000 people, compared to Ghana's lower rate of 1.8. Female murder rates are also higher in Türkiye (1.0) than in Ghana (0.6). Regarding organized crime, Türkiye scores higher on several indices, indicating greater challenges: for example, it has a mafia group index of 8.0 compared to Ghana's 3.0, and a state crime index of 9.0 versus Ghana's 7.5. Overall, while many tourists visit Türkiye safely, it is advisable for travelers from Ghana to stay informed about local conditions and exercise caution.
