Türkiye offers a unique blend of culture and history, making it an appealing destination for some Ethiopians. Its rich heritage and diverse landscapes attract millions of international tourists each year, indicating its strong presence in the global tourism market.
Türkiye presents a mixed safety profile for tourists, including those from Ethiopia. It ranks 31st out of 40 European countries for safety while walking alone at night, indicating some concerns. According to the Global Peace Index, Türkiye is ranked 137th out of 160 countries, which is relatively similar to Ethiopia's ranking of 142nd. In terms of crime statistics, Türkiye has a lower murder rate of 2.5 per 100,000 people compared to Ethiopia's 8.8. However, Türkiye faces significant challenges with organized crime, as indicated by its higher indices in areas such as mafia groups (8.0) and state crime (9.0) compared to Ethiopia. Overall, while Türkiye has certain safety concerns, particularly related to organized crime, it is generally safer in terms of violent crime compared to Ethiopia. Tourists should remain vigilant and informed while traveling in both countries.
