Türkiye offers a unique blend of culture and history, making it an appealing destination for Spanish travelers. With 7 million Spaniards traveling abroad annually, a portion may find Türkiye's rich heritage and diverse landscapes attractive for their travels.
Türkiye is generally considered less safe for tourists compared to Spain. In safety rankings, Türkiye is 31st out of 40 countries for walking alone at night, while Spain ranks 22nd. The Global Peace Index also reflects this, with Türkiye at 137th out of 160 countries, compared to Spain's 23rd position. Crime statistics further illustrate this difference. The murder rate in Türkiye is 2.5 per 100,000 people, significantly higher than Spain's rate of 0.6. Additionally, female murder rates are 1.0 in Türkiye versus 0.4 in Spain. Regarding organized crime, Türkiye scores lower in various categories on the Global Organized Crime Index, indicating a higher prevalence of issues like mafia activity, state crime, and human smuggling compared to Spain. Overall, while many tourists visit Türkiye safely, it is advisable for travelers from Spain to remain vigilant and informed about their surroundings.
