Türkiye offers a rich blend of culture and history, making it an appealing destination for some of the 28 million people in Cameroon. Its unique position at the crossroads of East and West, along with its diverse natural landscapes and cultural heritage, contributes to its attractiveness in the global tourism market.
Türkiye's safety for tourists coming from Cameroon can be summarized as follows: According to safety rankings, Türkiye is positioned 31st among 40 European countries for safety while walking alone at night. In the Global Peace Index, Türkiye ranks 137th out of 160 countries, which is similar to Cameroon’s ranking at 135th. In terms of murder rates, Türkiye has a lower rate at 2.5 per 100,000 people compared to Cameroon's 4.5. Female murder rates also favor Türkiye, with 1.0 compared to Cameroon’s 2.3. However, when examining organized crime indices, Türkiye generally scores lower (indicating worse conditions) than Cameroon in several areas, including mafia groups, state crime, and human smuggling. Overall, while Türkiye has a lower murder rate, its organized crime indices suggest a more complex safety landscape. Tourists should remain vigilant and informed about local conditions when visiting Türkiye.
