Türkiye is an appealing destination for visitors from the United Arab Emirates due to its rich cultural heritage and diverse landscapes. As a significant player in global tourism, it attracts millions of international travelers each year. With 6.3 million Emiratis traveling abroad annually, a portion of them is likely to consider Türkiye for their travels.
Türkiye presents a moderate safety profile for tourists, particularly when compared to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). According to safety rankings, Türkiye is 31st out of 40 European countries for safety while walking alone at night. In contrast, the UAE ranks significantly higher at 52nd in the Global Peace Index, where Türkiye ranks 137th out of 160 countries. Crime statistics indicate that the murder rate in Türkiye is 2.5 per 100,000 people, compared to just 0.5 in the UAE. Additionally, the female murder rate is 1.0 in Türkiye versus 0.4 in the UAE. The Global Organized Crime Index highlights further disparities, with Türkiye scoring higher on various crime indices (ranging from 1=best to 10=worst). For instance, Türkiye scores 8.0 for mafia groups and 9.0 for state crime, while the UAE scores 1.0 and 6.0, respectively. Overall, while Türkiye is a popular destination with much to offer, tourists from the UAE should remain aware of the differences in safety and crime rates when planning their visit.
