Tajikistan offers a diverse tourism experience, characterized by its stunning mountainous landscapes. While it remains one of the less popular travel destinations, it is gradually gaining recognition in the international tourism sector. This makes it an appealing option for a segment of Mongolia's 3 million residents.
Tajikistan is generally considered a relatively safe destination for tourists, ranking 69th out of 160 countries on the Global Peace Index. However, it is less safe compared to Mongolia, which ranks 44th. In terms of crime statistics, Tajikistan has a low murder rate of 0.9 per 100,000 people, significantly lower than Mongolia's rate of 6.2. While organized crime indices suggest some challenges, such as a higher state crime score for Tajikistan (9.0) compared to Mongolia (4.5), the overall safety for tourists remains reasonable. Travelers from Mongolia should exercise standard precautions, but they can generally expect a safe experience in Tajikistan.
