Thailand offers a vibrant culture, warm hospitality, rich history, enticing cuisine, and beautiful beaches, making it an appealing destination for some of Serbia's 7 million residents. However, it ranks modestly in terms of overall tourist arrivals.
Thailand is generally considered a relatively safe destination for tourists, including those from Serbia. According to the Global Peace Index, Thailand ranks 73rd out of 160 countries, while Serbia ranks higher at 53rd. When comparing crime statistics, Serbia has a lower murder rate of 1.1 per 100,000 people, compared to Thailand's 4.9. Additionally, Serbia shows lower rates of female murders (0.7 in Serbia vs. 1.2 in Thailand). In terms of organized crime, Thailand scores better on some indices, such as mafia groups (1.5 for Thailand vs. 6.0 for Serbia), but fares worse in others, including human trafficking and fauna crime. Overall, while Thailand has certain safety concerns, it remains a popular and relatively safe destination for tourists. Travelers are advised to exercise standard precautions, as they would in any foreign country.
