Togo offers a unique appeal for visitors from Germany, showcasing a rich cultural heritage, diverse landscapes, and an emerging hospitality sector. While it may not attract large numbers of tourists globally, it appeals to those seeking authentic experiences. With millions of Germans traveling abroad annually, Togo could attract a segment of these travelers looking for something different.
Togo presents a different safety landscape compared to Germany for tourists. While Germany ranks 20th in the Global Peace Index and has a low murder rate of 0.8 per 100,000 people, Togo is ranked 118th out of 160 countries, indicating higher safety concerns. Although specific crime data for Togo is limited, the Global Organized Crime Index shows that Togo faces challenges with crime networks and state crime, scoring significantly worse than Germany in these areas. For tourists from Germany, it is advisable to exercise caution and stay informed about local conditions while traveling in Togo.
