Eswatini offers a unique combination of cultural richness and natural beauty, making it an appealing destination for some Thai travelers. While the country attracts a limited number of international visitors annually, its distinctive tourism experiences could interest a segment of the 10.4 million Thais who travel abroad each year.
Eswatini's safety for tourists, particularly those coming from Thailand, is a concern. The Global Peace Index ranks Eswatini 101st out of 160 countries, compared to Thailand's 73rd position, indicating that Eswatini is less safe. In terms of crime statistics, the murder rate in Eswatini is significantly higher at 12.7 per 100,000 people, compared to Thailand's 4.9. While both countries have similar scores for mafia groups (1.5), Eswatini has higher indices for crime networks (5.5 vs. Thailand's 5.0) and state crime (5.0 vs. Thailand's 6.5). Overall, while Eswatini has some areas of organized crime that are comparable to Thailand, the higher murder rate suggests that tourists should exercise caution when visiting Eswatini.
