Eswatini offers a unique blend of cultural richness and natural beauty, making it an appealing destination for some travelers from the United Arab Emirates. While the number of international visitors is limited, the country's tourism sector has developed distinctive attractions. With 6.3 million Emiratis traveling abroad annually, a portion may find Eswatini an intriguing option for their travels.
Eswatini's safety for tourists, particularly those from the United Arab Emirates, is a matter of concern. According to the Global Peace Index, Eswatini ranks 101st out of 160 countries, indicating a lower safety level compared to the UAE, which ranks 52nd. Crime statistics reveal significant differences in murder rates: the UAE has a murder rate of 0.5 per 100,000 people, while Eswatini's rate is considerably higher at 12.7. Additionally, various organized crime indices suggest that while Eswatini has some challenges, it still ranks better than many countries in certain areas. For instance, its score for mafia groups is 1.5 (compared to the UAE's 1.0), and for human smuggling, Eswatini scores 3.0, while the UAE scores 6.5. Overall, while Eswatini has some positive aspects regarding organized crime, tourists should exercise caution and stay informed about local conditions, as it is generally less safe than the UAE.
