Syria offers a unique blend of historical significance and natural beauty, making it an intriguing option for some Venezuelan travelers. Despite its challenges, the country could appeal to a segment of the 1.1 million Venezuelans who travel internationally each year.
Syria is currently considered unsafe for tourists, including those from Venezuela. According to the Global Peace Index, Syria ranks 153rd out of 160 countries, while Venezuela ranks 140th, indicating that Syria has a higher level of insecurity. In terms of crime statistics, the murder rate in Syria is significantly lower at 2.2 per 100,000 people compared to Venezuela's 19.3. However, organized crime indices reveal a mixed picture: while Syria has a lower score for mafia groups (4.5) compared to Venezuela (9.5), it scores worse in areas like state crime (10.0 for Syria vs. 9.0 for Venezuela) and crime networks (9.0 for Syria vs. 5.0 for Venezuela). Overall, while Syria has lower murder rates, the overall safety and stability issues make it a risky destination for tourists. It is advisable to exercise extreme caution and stay informed about the current situation before considering travel to Syria.
