Syria offers a unique blend of historical significance and natural beauty, making it an intriguing destination for some Nigerians. Despite its challenging past, it holds appeal for a segment of Nigeria's 219 million population.

Please answer the following question: How safe is Syria for tourists coming from Nigeria?

Syria is currently considered unsafe for tourists, including those from Nigeria. According to the Global Peace Index, Syria ranks 153rd out of 160 countries, indicating significant safety concerns, while Nigeria ranks slightly better at 144th. In terms of crime statistics, Syria has a notably low murder rate of 2.2 per 100,000 people compared to Nigeria's 22.0. However, various organized crime indices suggest that Syria faces severe issues with state crime (ranked 10.0), human trafficking (8.5), and drug trafficking, which could pose risks to visitors. Overall, while Syria may have lower murder rates, the overall safety environment is precarious, making it less suitable for tourism compared to Nigeria.
