Frequently asked questions

How attractive is Syria as a destination for visitors from Moldova?

Syria offers a unique blend of historical significance and natural beauty, making it an intriguing option for some Moldovan travelers. Although the country has faced challenges, it could appeal to a segment of the approximately 200,000 Moldovans who travel abroad annually.

Please answer the following question: How safe is Syria for tourists coming from Moldova?

Syria is currently considered a high-risk destination for tourists, including those from Moldova. While Moldova ranks 61st in the Global Peace Index, Syria is ranked 153rd out of 160 countries, indicating significant safety concerns. Additionally, Moldova has a relatively low murder rate of 2.3 per 100,000 people, compared to Syria's similar rate of 2.2. Crime indices also reveal stark contrasts: Moldova generally scores better across various crime categories, such as organized crime and human trafficking, while Syria scores significantly worse, particularly in areas like crime networks (Syria: 9.0) and state crime (Syria: 10.0). Given these factors, it is advisable for tourists from Moldova to exercise extreme caution and thoroughly assess travel advisories before considering a visit to Syria.
