Sierra Leone offers a unique blend of natural beauty and cultural diversity, featuring pristine beaches and lush hills. While its tourism industry is still developing, it has started to attract attention on the global stage. Given that around 4.8 million Saudis travel abroad annually, a portion may find Sierra Leone an appealing destination.
Sierra Leone is generally considered a relatively safe destination for tourists, including those from Saudi Arabia. According to the Global Peace Index, Sierra Leone ranks 64th out of 160 countries, which is better than Saudi Arabia's ranking of 100th. In terms of crime statistics, the murder rate in Sierra Leone is 2.1 per 100,000 people, compared to Saudi Arabia's 0.8. While Sierra Leone's murder rate is higher, it is important to note that both countries have low overall violent crime rates. The Global Organized Crime Index indicates that Sierra Leone has a slightly higher risk in some areas compared to Saudi Arabia, but overall, it remains a safer environment for tourists. For example, Sierra Leone scores better in terms of heroin trade (2.0) compared to Saudi Arabia (6.5), indicating lower involvement in that particular crime. Overall, while there are some safety concerns, tourists from Saudi Arabia can visit Sierra Leone with appropriate precautions and awareness of their surroundings.
