Singapore is an appealing destination for some Nigerians, offering a unique mix of rich history and modern attractions. While it sees a modest number of international visitors, it effectively capitalizes on its tourism potential, reflected in high tourist spending per visitor.
Singapore is considered one of the safest countries in the world, ranking 5th out of 160 countries according to the Global Peace Index. In comparison, Nigeria ranks 144th. The murder rate in Singapore is exceptionally low at 0.1 per 100,000 people, while Nigeria's rate is significantly higher at 22.0. Additionally, crime indices from the Global Organized Crime Index indicate that Singapore has lower scores across various categories of organized crime compared to Nigeria. For example, Singapore scores 1.5 for state crime, while Nigeria scores 7.5. This trend continues across other crime categories, demonstrating that Singapore generally has a safer environment for tourists, including those from Nigeria.
