Sweden is an appealing destination for some Yemenis due to its beautiful landscapes and lively cities, supported by a strong tourism infrastructure. While it attracts a modest number of international visitors, it serves as a niche destination valued for quality experiences.
Sweden is generally considered a safe destination for tourists, including those from Yemen. According to the Global Peace Index, Sweden ranks 39th out of 160 countries, indicating a relatively high level of safety compared to Yemen, which ranks 160th. In terms of crime statistics, Sweden has a significantly lower murder rate at 1.1 per 100,000 people, compared to Yemen's 6.8. Additionally, Sweden's organized crime indices are more favorable, with lower scores in areas such as state crime (2.5 for Sweden vs. 6.0 for Yemen) and human trafficking (4.5 for Sweden vs. 8.5 for Yemen). While Sweden is ranked 36th for safety while walking alone at night among 40 European countries, it is still a safer option compared to Yemen. Overall, tourists from Yemen can feel relatively secure when visiting Sweden, though it is always advisable to stay informed about local conditions and follow safety guidelines.
