Sweden is an appealing destination for some Thai travelers, thanks to its stunning landscapes and lively cities, supported by a strong tourism infrastructure. While it attracts a modest number of international visitors, its reputation as a quality niche destination may draw a portion of the 10.4 million Thais who travel abroad annually.
Sweden is generally considered a safe destination for tourists, including those from Thailand. According to the Global Peace Index, Sweden ranks 39th out of 160 countries, indicating a relatively high level of safety compared to Thailand, which ranks 73rd. In terms of crime statistics, Sweden has a significantly lower murder rate of 1.1 per 100,000 people, compared to Thailand's rate of 4.9. Additionally, female murder rates in Sweden are also lower (0.5) than in Thailand (1.2). While Sweden ranks 36th among 40 European countries regarding safety while walking alone at night, it is still safer than Thailand in many respects. The Global Organized Crime Index shows that Sweden has lower indices for various types of organized crime compared to Thailand, particularly in areas like state crime and flora crime. Overall, while no country is without risks, Sweden is considered a safer option for tourists compared to Thailand based on available data.
