Sweden is an appealing destination for some individuals from Papua New Guinea, thanks to its stunning landscapes and lively cities, along with a strong tourism infrastructure. While it attracts a modest number of international visitors, it is recognized more for its quality experiences than sheer volume.

According to the Global Peace Index, Sweden ranks 39th out of 160 countries, indicating a high level of safety compared to Papua New Guinea, which ranks 113th. In terms of specific crime statistics, Sweden has a significantly lower murder rate of 1.1 per 100,000 people, compared to Papua New Guinea's rate of 9.8. Additionally, Sweden's organized crime indices suggest a more stable environment, with lower scores in various categories such as state crime (2.5 for Sweden vs. 8.0 for Papua New Guinea) and human trafficking (4.5 for Sweden vs. 7.0 for Papua New Guinea). While Sweden is ranked 36th out of 40 European countries for safety while walking alone at night, it remains a much safer option overall compared to Papua New Guinea. Tourists should still exercise normal precautions, but they can generally feel secure while visiting Sweden.
