Sweden is appealing to visitors from Brunei due to its stunning landscapes and lively cities, supported by a strong tourism infrastructure. While it attracts a modest number of international tourists, it stands out as a niche destination known for quality experiences. This makes it an intriguing option for a segment of Brunei's population.
Sweden is generally considered safe for tourists, including those from Brunei, though there are some differences in safety rankings and crime statistics. According to the safety ranking of 40 European countries, Sweden is positioned 36th for safety while walking alone at night. The Global Peace Index ranks Sweden 39th among 160 countries worldwide, indicating a moderate level of safety. In terms of specific crime rates, Sweden has a murder rate of 1.1 per 100,000 people, compared to Brunei's much lower rate of 0.5. However, female murder rates are lower in Sweden at 0.5 compared to Brunei's 1.2. Regarding organized crime, Sweden has higher indices than Brunei in several categories, such as mafia groups (5.5) and crime networks (5.5), while Brunei scores better in most areas, indicating a lower prevalence of organized crime. Overall, while Sweden has some safety concerns, it remains a popular destination for tourists, and visitors from Brunei should exercise standard precautions as they would in any foreign country.
