Sudan offers a unique blend of historical richness and archaeological wonders, making it an appealing destination for some Cameroonians. Its mix of ancient heritage and modern attractions could attract a segment of the 28 million people in Cameroon who are interested in cultural tourism.
Sudan is generally considered less safe for tourists compared to Cameroon. According to the Global Peace Index, Sudan ranks 159th out of 160 countries, while Cameroon is ranked 135th. The murder rate in Sudan is slightly higher at 5.1 per 100,000 people, compared to Cameroon's rate of 4.5. In terms of organized crime, Sudan scores worse in several categories, such as mafia groups (6.5 vs. 4.0), human trafficking (8.0 vs. 6.5), and arms trafficking (8.5 vs. 6.5). While both countries face challenges with crime, the data suggests that Sudan presents a higher risk for tourists. Travelers should exercise caution and stay informed about the current situation before visiting Sudan.
