Seychelles is an appealing destination for some Ethiopians, offering breathtaking beaches, lush landscapes, and clear waters. With around 200,000 international visitors each year, it presents a unique opportunity for those seeking natural beauty and relaxation. However, its attractiveness may be limited to a specific segment of Ethiopia's 123 million population.
Seychelles is generally considered safe for tourists, including those coming from Ethiopia. While Ethiopia ranks 142nd out of 160 countries on the Global Peace Index, Seychelles has a lower murder rate of 4.7 per 100,000 people compared to Ethiopia's 8.8. In terms of organized crime, both countries score similarly on mafia presence (2.0), but Seychelles has lower scores in various crime categories, indicating a relatively safer environment. For example, Seychelles scores better in human smuggling (3.5 vs. 6.5 for Ethiopia) and resource crime (1.0 vs. 5.5 for Ethiopia). Overall, while no destination is without risks, Seychelles presents a more favorable safety profile for tourists compared to Ethiopia.
