Saudi Arabia offers a rich cultural heritage and important religious sites, making it an increasingly attractive destination for tourists. As the country invests in tourism infrastructure to diversify its economy beyond oil, it is likely to appeal to a segment of Zambia's 20 million population.
Saudi Arabia's safety for tourists from Zambia can be assessed through various indices. The Global Peace Index ranks Saudi Arabia 100th out of 160 countries, while Zambia is ranked 55th, indicating that Zambia is generally considered safer. In terms of murder rates, Zambia has a rate of 5.4 per 100,000 people compared to Saudi Arabia's significantly lower rate of 0.8. The Global Organized Crime Index shows that both countries have the same score for mafia groups (3.0), but Saudi Arabia scores higher in state crime (8.0) and human trafficking (8.5), suggesting more significant issues in these areas. Overall, while Saudi Arabia has lower murder rates, the higher scores in organized crime categories indicate potential safety concerns. Tourists should remain vigilant and stay informed about local conditions when visiting Saudi Arabia.
