Saudi Arabia offers a rich cultural heritage and important religious sites, making it increasingly attractive to tourists. With ongoing investments in tourism infrastructure aimed at diversifying its economy, it appeals to a segment of Sudan's 47 million population.
Saudi Arabia is generally considered safer for tourists compared to Sudan. According to the Global Peace Index, Saudi Arabia ranks 100th out of 160 countries, while Sudan ranks 159th. The murder rate in Saudi Arabia is significantly lower, at 0.8 per 100,000 people, compared to Sudan’s 5.1. In terms of organized crime, Saudi Arabia has a lower index for mafia groups (3.0) and foreign crime (3.0) compared to Sudan (6.5 and 7.5, respectively). Although both countries face challenges with state crime (both at 8.0), Saudi Arabia tends to have a more favorable environment for tourists. Overall, while no destination is without risks, Saudi Arabia presents a safer option for travelers coming from Sudan.
