Saudi Arabia is increasingly appealing to Kuwaiti visitors due to its rich cultural heritage and important religious sites. The country is actively diversifying its economy beyond oil and investing in tourism infrastructure, making it a more attractive and varied destination for a segment of Kuwait's 4 million population.
Saudi Arabia's safety for tourists from Kuwait can be assessed through various crime statistics. According to the Global Peace Index, Saudi Arabia ranks 100th out of 160 countries, indicating a lower safety level compared to Kuwait, which ranks 25th. In terms of murder rates, Kuwait has a significantly lower rate at 0.3 per 100,000 people, compared to Saudi Arabia's rate of 0.8. Female murder rates also favor Kuwait, with 1.1 compared to Saudi Arabia's 0.3. The Global Organized Crime Index further highlights differences in safety, with Kuwait scoring better across various categories. For instance, mafia groups score 1.0 in Kuwait versus 3.0 in Saudi Arabia, and state crime scores 6.0 in Kuwait compared to 8.0 in Saudi Arabia. Overall, while Saudi Arabia is generally safe for tourists, it does have higher crime rates and lower safety rankings compared to Kuwait. Travelers should stay informed and exercise caution while visiting.
