Rwanda, known as the "Land of a Thousand Hills," offers rich biodiversity and cultural heritage, making it an intriguing destination for international tourists. Famous for its mountain gorillas and stunning landscapes, the country has made significant strides in its tourism sector, despite some challenges in maximizing its potential. It may appeal to a segment of Qatar's population of 3 million.
Rwanda is generally considered safe for tourists, but it has a higher crime rate compared to Qatar. According to the Global Peace Index, Rwanda ranks 90th out of 160 countries, while Qatar is much safer at 29th. The murder rate in Rwanda is 3.6 per 100,000 people, compared to Qatar's very low rate of 0.3. In terms of organized crime, both countries score well on mafia presence (1.0), but Rwanda has lower scores in other areas, indicating relatively less organized crime activity. For instance, Rwanda's crime networks score 3.0, while Qatar's is 6.0. Overall, while Rwanda is relatively safe for tourists, travelers from Qatar should be aware of the differences in safety and crime rates.
