Rwanda is an appealing destination for some Nigerians, thanks to its rich biodiversity and cultural heritage. Known for its mountain gorillas and stunning landscapes, the country has made significant strides in developing its tourism sector. However, it still faces challenges in maximizing its tourism potential.
Rwanda is generally considered safe for tourists, including those from Nigeria. According to the Global Peace Index, Rwanda ranks 90th out of 160 countries, significantly safer than Nigeria, which ranks 144th. In terms of crime statistics, Rwanda has a murder rate of 3.6 per 100,000 people, compared to Nigeria's 22.0. The Global Organized Crime Index also reflects lower levels of organized crime in Rwanda, with scores indicating less mafia presence and lower crime network activity. For example, Rwanda scores 1.0 for mafia groups, while Nigeria scores 5.5. Overall, tourists from Nigeria can expect a safer environment in Rwanda, with lower crime rates and a more stable social climate.
