Russia offers a unique blend of cultural and natural attractions that can appeal to Thai visitors. With around 6.4 million foreign tourists each year, its diverse offerings make it an intriguing option for some of the 10.4 million Thais who travel abroad annually.
Russia's safety for tourists from Thailand presents some concerns. It ranks 30th out of 40 European countries for safety while walking alone at night, with no comparable data for Thailand. The Global Peace Index places Russia at 154th out of 160 countries, indicating it is less safe than Thailand, which ranks 73rd. In terms of crime statistics, Russia has a higher murder rate of 6.8 per 100,000 people compared to Thailand's 4.9. For female murders, the rates are 3.3 in Russia versus 1.2 in Thailand. The Global Organized Crime Index also highlights differences: Russia scores worse in various categories, including mafia groups (4.5), crime networks (7.5), and state crime (8.5), compared to Thailand's scores of 1.5, 5.0, and 6.5, respectively. Overall, while Russia has many attractions, tourists from Thailand should be aware of the higher crime rates and safety concerns.
