Russia offers a rich array of cultural and natural attractions that can appeal to some Haitians. While it attracts around 6.4 million foreign visitors each year, its appeal lies in the diversity of experiences rather than sheer numbers. Thus, it may be an intriguing destination for a segment of Haiti's 12 million people.
Russia presents a mixed safety profile for tourists, including those from Haiti. It ranks 30th out of 40 European countries in terms of safety while walking alone at night, indicating some level of concern. In the Global Peace Index, Russia is ranked 154th out of 160 countries, which is lower than Haiti's ranking of 141st. Regarding crime statistics, Russia has a murder rate of 6.8 per 100,000 people, which is lower than Haiti's rate of 13.0. However, the rates of female murders are higher in Russia (3.3) compared to Haiti (1.9). In terms of organized crime, Haiti has higher indices for mafia groups (8.0) and drug trade activities, while Russia has higher scores for state crime (8.5) and crime networks (7.5). Overall, while Russia has some lower crime rates, its overall safety ranking and organized crime indices suggest that tourists should exercise caution.
