Serbia offers a diverse range of attractions and experiences, making it an appealing destination for some Cuban travelers. With its unique geographic location and rich cultural heritage, it could attract a portion of the 300,000 Cubans who travel abroad annually.
Serbia is generally considered safe for tourists, including those from Cuba. It ranks 13th out of 40 European countries for safety while walking alone at night. According to the Global Peace Index, Serbia is ranked 53rd out of 160 countries, which is significantly safer than Cuba, ranked 96th. In terms of crime statistics, Serbia has a lower murder rate of 1.1 per 100,000 people compared to Cuba's 5.0. Additionally, female murder rates are also lower in Serbia (0.7) than in Cuba (2.1). While both countries face challenges with organized crime, Serbia's indices in various categories, such as mafia groups and crime networks, indicate a higher level of organized crime activity compared to Cuba. However, the overall safety perception and lower homicide rates suggest that Serbia presents a safer environment for tourists.
