Qatar offers a compelling mix of modernity and cultural heritage, complemented by stunning desert and urban landscapes. While it sees a moderate number of tourists, it attracts high-value visitors, making it an appealing destination for some Turkish travelers. With 2.7 million Turks traveling abroad annually, a portion may find Qatar an intriguing option.
Qatar is generally considered a safe destination for tourists, including those from Türkiye. While Türkiye ranks 31st among 40 European countries for safety while walking alone at night, Qatar holds a more favorable position, being ranked 29th out of 160 countries on the Global Peace Index, compared to Türkiye's 137th ranking. In terms of crime statistics, Qatar has a significantly lower murder rate at 0.3 per 100,000 people, compared to Türkiye's 2.5. The rates for female murders also reflect this trend, with Qatar at 0.5 and Türkiye at 1.0. Furthermore, Qatar's organized crime indices are notably better in several categories. For example, Qatar scores 1.0 for mafia groups, while Türkiye scores 8.0. In terms of crime networks, Qatar scores 6.0 compared to Türkiye's 7.5. Overall, while both countries have their challenges, Qatar presents a safer environment for tourists, particularly when considering violent crime and organized crime statistics.
