Qatar offers a compelling mix of modernity and cultural heritage, complemented by stunning desert and urban landscapes. While the overall number of tourists is moderate, the high spending per visitor highlights its appeal as a premium destination. Given that around 500,000 Bahrainis travel abroad annually, a portion may find Qatar an attractive option to explore.
Qatar is considered a relatively safe destination for tourists, including those coming from Bahrain. According to the Global Peace Index, Qatar ranks 29th out of 160 countries, indicating a higher safety level compared to Bahrain, which ranks 79th. In terms of crime statistics, the murder rate in Qatar is 0.3 per 100,000 people, while Bahrain's is lower at 0.1. However, when looking at specific crime indices from the Global Organized Crime Index, both countries have similar scores for mafia groups (1.0), but Qatar generally scores higher in areas like state crime (6.0) and human trafficking (8.0). Overall, while both countries have their challenges, Qatar is statistically safer for tourists than Bahrain.
