1 mission of Palau in Switzerland: Consulate of Palau in Geneva, Switzerland. Addresses, phones and contacts.
Head of mission: Mr. Bertrand Pierre Louis Graz, Honorary Consul (confirmed in the diplomatic list of Switzerland, 25 Oct 2024)
Palau is an appealing destination for some Swiss travelers, thanks to its breathtaking landscapes and rich marine biodiversity. While it receives a relatively low volume of tourists, the unique experiences it offers can attract a segment of the 6.1 million Swiss who travel abroad annually.
Palau presents a mixed safety profile for tourists from Switzerland. While specific crime statistics for Palau are limited, some indicators suggest caution. Switzerland ranks 6th globally in the Global Peace Index and has a low murder rate of 0.5 per 100,000 people. In contrast, Palau has a significantly higher murder rate of 11.2 per 100,000. Regarding organized crime, Palau scores relatively well in terms of mafia presence and arms trafficking, but it has higher indices for fauna crime and synthetic drug trade compared to Switzerland. Overall, while Palau may not be as safe as Switzerland, many tourists visit without issues. It's advisable for travelers to stay informed and exercise standard safety precautions while visiting.
