Portugal is an appealing destination for visitors from Czechia, thanks to its rich culture and stunning landscapes. Although tourism trends have varied, recent data shows a gradual increase in foreign arrivals. With 1.2 million Czechs traveling abroad annually, a portion may find Portugal an enticing option to explore.
Portugal is generally considered a safe destination for tourists, including those from Czechia. It ranks 15th out of 40 European countries for safety while walking alone at night, which is lower than Czechia's 5th place. However, according to the Global Peace Index, Portugal is one of the safest countries globally, ranked 7th out of 160, compared to Czechia's 12th place. In terms of crime statistics, the murder rate in Portugal is 0.8 per 100,000 people, slightly higher than Czechia's 0.4. Female murder rates are also comparable, with Czechia at 0.5 and Portugal at 0.6. Regarding organized crime, both countries have relatively low indices, but Czechia generally scores better in various categories, such as mafia presence and crime networks. Overall, while Czechia may be slightly safer in certain aspects, Portugal remains a secure and welcoming destination for tourists.
