Pakistan offers a rich cultural heritage and stunning natural landscapes, making it an appealing destination for travelers. Its tourism infrastructure is developing, with around 3,000 hotels available on TripAdvisor, indicating an increasing ability to host various types of visitors. This diverse appeal may attract a segment of South Africa's 60 million population.
Pakistan's safety for tourists, including those from South Africa, presents a mixed picture. According to the Global Peace Index, Pakistan ranks 138th out of 160 countries, while South Africa ranks slightly better at 125th. In terms of crime statistics, Pakistan has a significantly lower murder rate of 4.0 per 100,000 people compared to South Africa's 41.9. However, the Global Organized Crime Index indicates that both countries face challenges with organized crime, though Pakistan generally scores better in areas like foreign crime and cocaine trade. While Pakistan may have lower violent crime rates, travelers should remain cautious and stay informed about local conditions and travel advisories. Overall, while it may not be as safe as South Africa, it offers a different set of risks and experiences for tourists.
